KS campaign ends
/With modest expectations for Kickstarter leading-in, it isn’t too disappointing that our campaign failed to meet its target. We knew our goals were super ambitious for any newbie crowdfunding crew, so even in the best of conditions, we likely would have been typing a similar update post.
What is most important to us is, we went through with our plan. At the end of 2019, we committed to doing a KS in the Summer/Fall timeframe (before the U.S. elections). The ensuing pandemic and global uncertainty were significant distractions. COVID19 isn’t an excuse, but it certainly changed our priorities on so many things. With other major projects rolling in, we decided we needed to pull the trigger anyway, and that is exactly what we did.
Despite the small pledge numbers, we are very satisfied with what we learned about the Kickstarter platform. From a business perspective, there were countless concerns with dealing with a successful crowd-funded project… and everything we knew were challenges was absolutely validated.
Did we do a half-assed job in the pre-launch and running of the campaign? Indeed, there are countless things we coulda, shoulda, woulda. I do, however, believe we did the right things and achieved a few auxiliary goals that may prove to be more valuable for us, as individuals, and for the project.
Meta Olympia project does not end because of a failed Kickstarter. In fact, it marks another new beginning where anything can happen!
